Neurodiversity Support

Recently diagnosed myself and working within the charity sector it is clear that their is an absence of support for people that are diagnosed, awaiting diagnosis or suspected Neurodiverse and families are left to struggle navigating a world that is not created for people on the spectrum. Mentoring is a great way to gain support for yourself or someone in your life who is on the spectrum and encourage them to embrace their neurodiversity. See below for examples of the services i can offer.

Support on offer

Recently Diagnosed

A space to talk and build acceptance and confidence in who you are as well as a space to explore what this diagnosis means for you. Maybe you are struggling with relationships or the unwritten rules of society and need help navigating the world, Mentoring can be the support to help you on your journey.

Late diagnosis

Receiving a diagnosis after living a life unaware of your needs can leave you with more questions than answers and mentoring can provide a space to make sense of your new perspective of self and time to discuss what being autistic means for you. Maybe you have always suspected and have now found solace in your diagnosis and want a space to be heard and plan what you new future may look like.

Parent of a child on the spectrum

You may feel lost and stuck with how to support your child and looking for suggestions on strategies that can embrace their neurodiversities. You may feel isolated as there seems to be no support after diagnosis and need to talk to someone about additional support that is out in the community

Building confidence in self

You may have been diagnosed for a while or you are struggling to fit into the social norms of society. Mentoring can be a space to explore self and to accept your differences and identify what makes you unique and special. Just because our brains work differently does not mean we are any less worthy of equality. Why follow the crowd when you can pave your own way to fulfillment.

Family support

Working with the entire family to identify needs, put in strategies and help support your child with self regulation. It may be that you feel lost in how to cater for your child's needs or it maybe that you a struggling with school refusal, psycho-education and neurodiversity awareness could help you to feel empowered.

Exploring your needs

Being on the spectrum can be difficult when you feel that no one understands you or the needs that you have. We can feel like the odd one who sees the world in a different way and feel inferior to our neurotypical counterparts. Identifying you needs and help you to understand what you need to flourish or to identify when your social battery is empty and you need some self care. Mentoring can help to explore that.

Advice & Guidance

It is so hard to find the right information to help and guidance. With my experience of bringing up two autistic boys i can help to answer or support you in you needs by giving one to one guidance of what to expect from the system or to answers any questions that you are struggling to find the answers to.

Strategies to cope

Self regulation strategies are something that we all need to cope in the fast paced world but it is also vitally important for people who are on the spectrum and can feel socially, emotionally and mentally exhausted from masking or just coping in the world around us. You may be a parent wanting help for your child or just need some validation for the hard work you are already doing.
